This section of Brackenridge Park is home to a memorial honoring his sister, Eleanor. A simple bronze stone plaque, mounted at the base of a large oak tree along the Wilderness walking trail, marks a quiet tribute to Eleanor. Erected in 1925, on the first anniversary of her passing, the plaque was placed by the Women’s Christian Temperance Union (W.C.T.U.), an organization to which she was deeply committed. It reads:

“W.C.T.U., In memory of Eleanor Brackenridge, February 26, 1925.”

This memorial serves as a serene reminder of Eleanor’s legacy and her contributions to the community.
